Descriptions
The provision of clinical healthcare waste disposal service across a number of NHS organisations inGloucestershire and Herefordshire. They are collectively described as ‘Gloucestershire and Herefordshire Health and Social Care Organisations' (GHHSC) This contract will provide for the collection, transportation and disposal of clinical wastes arising from healthcare premises across both counties. Wastes will include those of a clinical nature, arising from wards, operating theatres and clinics etc. and which may cause infection or prove hazardous to any person coming into contact with it. Wastes will include those listed in Chapter 18 01 of the European Waste Catalogue 2002. Offensive (hygiene) wastes, pharmaceuticals (including cytotoxic and cytostatic drugs), implants, pacemakers and wastes of a radioactive nature are also included in the contract. The successful contractor will follow all relevant legislation and best practice guidance, and be capable of dealing with current and future service requirements.
