Great Crested Newt & Water Vole Investigation
Descriptions
GMCA wishes to appoint a suitable qualified and experienced ecologist to;Undertake a Great Crested Newt survey of waterbodies within 250m of 21work areas, see Annex A for detailed maps. NRW have deemed a waterbodyas, ‘any feature which holds water either permanently, seasonally orfollowing periods of heavy rainfall’. If GCN are found at a work site, an assessment should be made to whether the work we propose to undertake will require a licence. Due to time and financial constraints, we would explore alternative works to avoid the need for a licence. For example, Cadw required us to undertake a heritage Impact Assessment, where there was areas of high historical importance, the creation of a ditch and bund was replaced by amore sensitive solution such as placing boulders on the ground surface.Water Voles – NRW have informed us that although they are not aware ofany records of this species in the proposed work areas, they would like thepotential presence of this species considered by a professional ecologist.NOTE: To register your interest in this notice and obtain any additional information please visit the Sell2Wales Web Site at https://www.sell2wales.gov.wales/Search/Search_Switch.aspx?ID=121131.
