Great Orme Country Park Visitor Centre Improvements

As part of a European (Convergence) funding package, through the umbrella “Communities and Nature” Project administered by the Countryside Council for Wales, Conwy County Borough Council wishes to improve the interpretation facilities at its Country Park Visitor Centre, located near the summit of the Great Orme, Llandudno, Conwy.The project comprises the upgrading and improvement of some of the existing interpretive elements within the Country Park Visitor Centre. After large scale improvement of the interpretation within the visitor centre in 2001, it is felt that further improvements could be made by removing some of the less popular displays and creating additional, interactive interpretation in their place.The purpose of the projects listed below is to: -• Improve and enliven some of the original elements of the interpretation.• Provide additional information regarding management of the Country Park. • Provide information to visitors in a different format which, it is hoped, will appeal to a wider variety of people.• Provide information regarding improvements to the visitor centre’s overall sustainability.• Provide an additional activity specifically aimed at children.• Increase the visitor centre’s popularity with tourists and local people alike and encourage return visits.• Increase the length of time visitors spend in the centre.Delivery of this contract will be over two financial years, to include, design, supervision and construction to completion.The appointment of a design company is expected in January 2012. The completion of the contract should be 31 January 2013.Proposals for this work must be submitted no later than 12.00 noon on Monday 16 January 2012.
