Helmet Mounted Night Optic Replacement - HMNO(R).

Descriptions

Binoculars. Goggles. Under the Helmet Mounted Night Optic (Replacement) project, the UK MOD has a requirement for a helmet-mounted night vision device to replace current in service systems. The devices must meet, but not necessarily be limited to, the following capability requirements:1. The user shall be provided with a capability which provides binocular unity vision.2. The user shall be provided with an intensified Field of View (FOV) of =40°.3. The user shall be provided with a capability which allows continued operation without degradation between Starlight (1mLux) – Very dark day (100Lux) light conditions.4. The user shall be able to identify a man-size target in clear starlight (1mLux) conditions out to a range of 50 m.5. The user shall be provided with a capability that can be stowed whilst fitted to the helmet out of the user's field of view, using a single hand.6. The user shall be provided with a capability which is compatible with the following Ops Core products using a VAS Shroud interface: Fast Maritime / Fast Carbon / Skull Crusher.7. The user shall be provided with a capability which allows all operations to be completed with a single hand: Image and Focus adjustments / All Switch Settings / to and from stowed positions.8. The user shall be provided with a capability of total system weight, including battery of less than 680g.9. The user shall be provided with a capability compliant with the Integrated Logistics Support policy defined in DEF STAN 00-600 Issue 2.10. The user shall be provided with a capability that can withstand immersion (unprotected) in saltwater for up to 2 hours to depths in excess of 10 m.
