Argyll and Bute Council has secured Heritage Lottery Funding (HLF) to develop a Stage 2, Parks for People funding application for Hermitage Park, Helensburgh. This project is being led by Argyll and Bute Council in conjunction with local community groups and will follow recommended guidance from HLF.Hermitage Park is an urban park in Argyll and Bute, the only urban park in the local authority area. It covers an area of approximately 4.7 hectares and is located in the Conservation Area in the town of Helensburgh on the River Clyde, a mere 200 metres from the town centre and the main train station. The park contains significant heritage elements, gardens and recreational space which require investment to restore the heritage, undertake repairs, reconfigure the recreational space, increase visitor numbers and create a sustainable park. The Consultant shall work with the Council Project Team to develop the HLF Parks for People Stage 2 application (hereafter referred to as HLF application). These are needed to:— Support Argyll and Bute Council in delivering a viable stage 2 HLF application for Hermitage Park;— Support applications to capital funding bodies, e.g., Historic Scotland, Sports Scotland.The Consultant, should the HLF Parks for People application be successful, will be required to take the project through to completion of the physical works and handover.
