NHSBT's testing function performs Nucleic Acid Amplification Technology (NAT) Testing which is the screening of blood, tissue and stem cell donations for detection of Hepatitis E Virus (HEV) using automation systems.This VEAT is for a direct award to the current HEV provider as NHSBT is awaiting the outcome of the Advisory Committee on the Safety of Blood, Tissues and Organs (SaBTO) review of pool size for HBV (i.e. MPX) and subsequent instruction from DHSC. The impact of this review will affect the specification for future tenders. The review has been delayed due to technical advisors to SaBTO being diverted to the national response to the Covid-19 pandemic. There is no alternative technical support available.
