The University of South Wales is a new institution and is the result of a merger between the former Universities of Glamorgan and Wales, College Newport. It has over 30 000 students, making it one of the largest universities in the UK and a major regional University. There are approximately 3 500 staff working for the institution and it has over 6 300 PCs/Macs.The University is taking advantage of its unique position, building on the foundation of a new identity and striving for a new way of delivering its services to students. Aligned to this position we wish to take advantage of the convergence of the end of our print equipment contracts to seek a partnership with a supplier who can help us to deliver a more integrated and progressive print service for all of our students, staff and external customers. Print Service Vision — ‘All students and staff will easily be able to print their output wherever and whenever they wish to, and their choice should be based on a combination of cost, urgency and quality.’. Print Service Aims:- 1. All staff and students will easily be able to send their output to local multi-functional devices (MFDs) that offer adequate quality, reasonable costs and a reasonable turnaround speed, albeit with limited finishing capability (staple only). 2. All staff and students will easily be able to send their output to a central service to take advantage of the highest levels of quality, a greater range of finishing is available, speed of turnaround is longer but the lowest cost is highly desirable.3.Some staff will have directly attached personal printers as an additional option, where cost is higher, quality is reasonable and urgency is highly desirable. 4. The integrated printing service will offer a consistent and easy user experience across all devices, and deliver an overall cost saving and cost reduction year on year throughout the next 5 years for the University.
