Mildmay Mission Hospital provides services for people with HIV who have cognitive impairment, HIV related brain injuries or complex physical rehabilitation needs. The services provided are specialised but falls outside the range of services provided under the NHS England Specialised Commissioning arrangement. It provides a specialist interdisciplinary assessment and rehabilitation service which can be delivered on an inpatient or outpatient ‘day service’ basis depending on the needs of the person. The patient pathways encourage as much self-management as possible and are an acute admission avoidance strategy. Key areas of expertise and service include: — HIV Associated Neurocognitive Disorder (HAND) — Rehabilitation for complex physical conditions — Respite care where patients are admitted to deal with adherence issues, psychological support, nutrition support, step down from hospital care — End of life care — Day services.
