Defra procuring on behalf of Natural England: The aim of the Nurturing Nature Conservation Skills on National Nature Reserves Project (the Project) is to develop a pool of potential competent recruits with the specialist skills and knowledge needed to look after the country's richest wildlife and geological heritage. The Project will develop and demonstrate methods for how practical based learning models can meet priority heritage skills gaps facing the nature conservation sector. The Project has the following specific objectives: • to help meet the evidenced nature conservation skills and knowledge gaps; • to utilise the National Nature Reserve (NNR) estate and resources to best advantage to provide a quality training experience; • to develop the skills of those entering the sector, career changers and those wishing to enhance specialist nature conservation skills; • to capture learning on approaches to developing skills that can be applied at other similar sites.
