The University of Birmingham is setting up a new hotel and conference centre. The current proposal is that it will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary (SPV) from 1.7.2018. Trading as a separate legal entity, the new hotel and conference centre will work with a marketing partner to link with global distribution systems (GDS) and to utilise their sales platforms.The relationship with the marketing partner will be with the New hotel, not the University. A tender process identified Preferred hotels group (PHG) as the successful supplier for this service. In order to allow PHG to build the platforms necessary for the sales and GDS relationships to start 1st July, the contract will need to start with the University ASAP and then novate over to the new hotel SPV on its creation.
