The purpose of the project is to support young vulnerable people in dealing with the issues, obstacles and problems which can arise from living independently in shared accommodation. In most cases, this accommodation will consist of a house or flat sharing arrangement where a small number of tenants each have sole use of a single room and access to a shared kitchen, bathroom and possibly living room.Service users will also be expected either to have a tenancy in shared accommodation or to have a clear interest in a specific tenancy in shared accommodation (e.g. be on the point of signing a tenancy agreement before moving in).The project will work in the following areas:1.To follow up move-on from supported housing projects into shared accommodation by assisting service users to set up home and develop the additional skills necessary to sustain independent living in accommodation that is shared with other tenants.2.To provide crisis intervention support to service users who are living in shared accommodation and are at risk of losing their homes. All service users will have been identified as needing support in a number of areas relating to sharing accommodation to enable them to independently manage their housing tenure (e.g. their tenancy). It is expected that service users will be supported for a maximum of 3 months at a time (as appropriate to their needs), though most interventions would be expected to be of much shorter duration. The project will support a minimum of 7 people at any one time. Support worker hours will be managed dynamically and will be allocated flexibly in response to service user need. Service user numbers will normally be expected to exceed the minimum level as new service users join the project while support is gradually withdrawn from those service users approaching the completion of their support. The project will be expected to have the capacity to accept urgent referrals as may be required from time to time.Staff will deliver support activities in service users’ own accommodation and the community. Staff will additionally provide a 24 hour on-call service.
