Descriptions
The Health Research Board (HRB) is Ireland’s lead public funding agency supporting innovative health research and delivering data and evidence that improves people’s health and patient care. We are committed to putting people first, and ensuring data and evidence are used in policy and practice to overcome health challenges, advance health systems, and benefit society and the economy. The HRB’s mission is to support research that improves people's health, promotes evidence-informed care and creates solutions to societal challenges. An overview of the HRB’s objectives and activities may be found in The HRB Strategy 2021-2025, Health research - making an impact, (https://www.hrb.ie/strategy-2025/).The HRB Evidence Centre and National Drugs Library subscribes to 21 print and/or electronic journals in the areas of health research, methods and drug and alcohol addiction. The maintenance of this collection is essential if the HRB Evidence Centre and National Drugs Library are to function effectively. The HRB National Drugs Library is the only library in the country with a special collection in this subject area and so is the main supplier of inter-library loans to academic, health and other special libraries. In addition, HRB journals are available to all staff, however the primary function of those journals focused on broad health topics, such as the BMJ, NEJM and Lancet, is to support the work of the Evidence Review team in the Evidence Centre. The tender will be for the supply of journals for 12 months from mid December 2022, using a Framework agreement. The Framework, if established, shall operate for a period (“the Framework Period”) of 12 months and the HRB reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to extend the Framework Period by a further 12 months in 12-month increments such that the total Framework Period will not exceed 48 months.
