Descriptions
Work RequiredIn order to demonstrate whether online access to STI testing in Wales would work the proposed pilot is to provide 1,000 Chlamydia/Gonorrhoea dual testing kits in the Hywel Dda University Health Board area, via an online ordering platform. This project is a collaboration between Public Health Wales and the sexual health services in Hywel Dda UHB and is based on the process that currently exists for testing in Hywel Dda as this should be the basis for the online testing pathway. The ‘backend’ of the online ordering will need to be accessed by staff in the sexual health service in Hywel Dda as kits will be made up and sent from the sexual health services in Hywel Dda since the requests will need to be entered on to the existing case management system in order for the results to feedback from the laboratory. The samples will then be processed in the Public Health Wales laboratory when they are received, by post, from the client. The results will be forwarded to the Hywel Dda sexual health services through the lab link. The sexual health service will auto-text negatives and will phone positives and those flagged as vulnerable by the system and invite them to clinic for follow up/treatment.A further requirement of the ordering platform is that it can be accessed in English and in Welsh.Access to the platform will be through the Frisky Wales website.Outputs RequiredA secure online platform hosted within the Health and Social Care Network (formerly N3) with access for the NHS Wales services involved.
