Human Genome-wide DNA Methylation Profiling Microarrays
Descriptions
At the UK Dementia Research Institute (UK DRI), we are aiming to produce large, reliable datasets related to neurodegenerative disease which, as well as being a central pillar of UK DRI research, can also be reanalysed by scientists at other institutes. Acquisition of the human whole-genome DNA methylation microarrays would directly synergise with this strategic focus of the UK DRI on big data ‘omics techniques and provide a resource which could be shared with other members of Cardiff University and other UKDRI centres. The Human Genome-wide DNA Methylation Microarrays will allow us to understand the methylation profiles of Alzheimer's disease and healthy control individuals. These DNA methylation profiles will allow us to perform epigenome-wide association studies (EWAS) and calculate/estimate epigenetic clocks of individuals. The results from these will be combined with other Genetic and Genomic data from the same individuals.
