Image and metadata processing software for book and manuscript digitisation
Descriptions
Since 1999, The National Library of Wales (NLW) has been engaged in an on-going program of digitisation to create a critical mass of digital content related to Wales and the Welsh. The programme aims to take the library’s digitised collection to existing and new users regardless of their location, encourage and enable use of digital material in new ways of research and learning, and through surrogacy, as a tool to preserve its originals. As part this programme, NLW is seeking to procure from a single supplier, a software solution to manage and facilitate the processing, structuring and enrichment of digitised material to support a full cover-to-cover on-demand digitisation service for readers, researchers and commercial customers. The software tool should be capable of importing digital images (up to 500,000 pages per year)of manuscripts and printed books in standard formats from any scanning platform, facilitate their processing and enrichment with OCR (Optical character recognition), perform structural analysis, image manipulation, and output derivative images with structural and descriptive metadata files to recognised standards.NOTE: To register your interest in this notice and obtain any additional information please visit the Sell2Wales Web Site at http://www.sell2wales.gov.uk/Search/Search_Switch.aspx?ID=24102.
