Improving Strategy, Policy, and Regulation for East Africa Geothermal Power Investment. A Technical

Descriptions

DFID have contracted an organisation to provide a three year technical assistance facility in geothermal power for East Africa. It will help put in place the geothermal strategy, policies and regulations that facilitate investment in cost effective geothermal power. The technical assistance will be according to need and demand, collaborating with relevant existing and emerging East African institutions to strengthen their ability to deliver geothermal development. It will work closely with DFID and other donors, to benefit from the relationships and contextual understanding they have developed through other programmes. The facility will build alliances with private and public sector actors to generate the analysis and capabilities for the reforms needed to deliver geothermal power. The facility will work with the main institutions to agree joint annual action plans that will be signed off by the institutions, African Union Commission and DFID. It will focus on DFID's footprint countries in the East African Rift Valley (Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania).
