The NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership on behalf of the Hywel Dda Health Board is looking to appoint a suitably qualified Provider of an Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy Service across West Wales.Under Section 35 of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 Hywel Dda Health Board are required to make such arrangements as it considers reasonable to enable persons ("independent mental capacity advocates") to be available to represent and support persons to whom acts or decisions proposed under sections 37-39 of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 relate.The current contract will expire on the 31st March 2014, as such the Hywel Dda Health Board invites interested parties to express an interest in this tender renewal opportunity.The purpose of the IMCA Service is to support vulnerable people who lack the mental capacity to make a decision about proposed serious medical treatment or changes of accommodation, and no family or friends are available to consult. IMCAs will work with, and support people, who lack mental capacity, and represent their likely or known views to professionals who are determining what is best for the person.
