Project Objectives.To develop and analyse a series of scenarios/pathways to 2050 for decarbonisation of each of around 8 industrial sectors in the UK. These scenarios will be based on modelling technical and economic potential for emissions reductions. The scenarios will be based on evidence contributed by industry, Government and sourced through the project. The outputs will list the interventions required to achieve the carbon reductions at milestone stages to 2050. The project will also review the technical, economic, commercial and organisational barriers to implementing the scenarios.To develop emissions reduction ‘roadmaps' to 2050 based on the scenarios for each industrial sector. These roadmaps will be agreed action plans focused on delivery, highlighting the short term and longer term actions which need to be taken by industry, government and others to overcome the barriers identified and implement the interventions required to achieve the 2050 target reduction.The industrial sectors to be covered are: iron and steel, oil refining, chemicals, food and drink, paper and pulp, cement, glass, and ceramics.
