UK Green Investment Bank plc (‘GIB’) wishes to establish a Contract for the provision of Administration Services with respect to GIB's ‘International Pilot’ with the UK Government's Department for Energy and Climate Change (‘DECC’).UK Climate Investments LLP (‘UKCI’) has been established to invest in international renewable energy and energy efficiency projects in developing countries. With up to 200 000 000 GBP of funds, UKCI is a joint venture between UK Green Investment Climate International Limited (‘GICI’), a wholly-owned subsidiary of GIB, and DECC. The joint venture (‘JV’) will target 3 regions: East Africa, South Africa and India with a focus on investments in renewable energy and energy efficiency. All investments must be on commercial arm's length terms, meet certain ‘transformational indicators’ (such that they are likely to drive the relevant market forward) and mobilise additional private sector capital. The JV has been allocated up to 200 000 000 GBP of capital from DECC's International Climate Fund, a 3 900 000 000 GBP fund which aims to help the world's developing economies adapt to climate change and promote cleaner, greener growth.The contracting authority for this contract is expected to be GIB, although we will need flexibility to consider whether any particular services should be contracted by the joint venture, UKCI, and in any event it may be that certain services will be provided for the benefit of each of GIB, GICI and UKCI even though GIB is the contracting party.
