Invitation to Tender for Understanding Effective Flood Risk Governance
Descriptions
Flood risk governance has undergone a series of changes over the past century, often in reaction to major flood events. The most recent significant national shift was the introduction of the Flood and Water Management Act 2010 (the "Act"), following recommendations from the Pitt Review after the summer 2007 floods. The Act devolved additional responsibilities to a local level and legislated for greater cooperation between flood risk management authorities (RMAs). At a strategic level, a new national FCERM strategy for England is currently being developed and a government policy statement for floods is also being prepared.
