Invitation to Tender: River Realignment, Stoke-on-Trent

Descriptions

Staffordshire Wildlife Trust is looking for experienced river restoration contractors to tender for a works contract to deliver a prepared river restoration design on approx 400m of the River Trent. The section of the river which this contract relates to is on the Leek Road Campus of Staffordshire University, Stoke-on-Trent. The current condition of the river is artificially straightened and rock armoured allowing for little in the way of geomorphological diversity or dynamism, and limiting the potential of this stretch of the river to develop habitat features suitable for supporting a full range of native species. The prepared design includes creating new sections of channel to restore meander features, also the creation of side channels and pools, and the installation of gravels. The target delivery period is from January to March 2020. A full tender pack can be be downloaded from the link below. Questions about the contract should be directed to Richard Guy at r.guy@staffs-wildlife.org.uk.
