Awarded
3562/JN - Automated Die Powder Filling Machine for Spark Plasma Sintering
Descriptions
The University of Sheffield's Department of Materials Science and Engineering with funding from EPSRC are looking to procure a machine that is capable of filling a graphite die with up to three different powders for subsequent spark plasma sintering (aka field-assisted sintering technology). The internal diameter of the graphite moulds (and subsequent diameter of the post-sintered billets) will range from 20 mm up to 115 mm diameter. Pre-sintered filling thicknesses would range from 0.5 mm to 8 cm. The machine will be used for research and development by Prof. Martin Jackson's research group on a range of powders that will be used for die filling include titanium, nickel superalloys, copper, tungsten, aluminium, steels and ceramic powders. Prof. Jackson's group are one of the leading groups developing applications and new sectors for components produced through spark plasma sintering. The machine will be housed in the Royce Discovery Centre (Department of Materials Science and Engineering, The University of Sheffield) and may be made available to wider users in the future. This is an open exercise. The ITT can be downloaded by registering and expressing your interest on the University`s e-tendering system https://in-tendhost.co.uk/sheffield If you have any questions or comments in relation to this tender they must be submitted via the In-tend system, this can be accessed at https://in-tendhost.co.uk/sheffield Completed tenders must be returned through the same e-tendering system.
