The University of Sheffield has awarded a tender for Structural Experimental equipment to be housed in our new Diamond Building.The Light Structures Laboratory within the Diamond will be used by students from a wide range of disciplines across the Faculty of Engineering, including Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science. The purpose of the Laboratory is the translation of theoretical principles into real-life experiences, and vice versa, to promote both qualitative and quantitative understanding.This tender was divided into nine (9) Lots:— Lot 1-10x Cantilever frame experiment,— Lot 2-10x Chain (or Cable) suspension,— Lot 3-10x Arch,— Lot 4-10x Normal and shear stresses in beams,— Lot 5-10x Deflection of a beam,— Lot 6-10x Plastic hinge formation in a beam,— Lot 7-10x Buckling of struts,— Lot 8-10x Plastic bending of portals,— Lot 9-10x Asymmetric bending.Please note that only Lots 2, 3, 4, 5, 7 have been awarded.
