Jubilee Lake is a water body located 1km to the northwest of Royal Wootton Bassett Town Centre. A silt trap is located immediately upstream of the Lake. Jubilee Lake is registered as a Local Nature Reserve and is owned and maintained by Royal Wootton Bassett Town Council. The Lake is a popular amenity asset used daily by the public and the Wootton Bassett Angling Club and less frequently by Royal Wootton Bassett Sea Scouts. A small tea room and children's play area are located to the east of the Lake, on the route of the vehicular access track leading down to the Lake. The Lake is approximately 5300m2 in surface area and is dammed at its northern end. The Lake does not currently fall under the Reservoirs Act 1975. There are two inlet channels that feed the Lake, via the silt trap, one natural inlet channel flowing from the east (known as the Thunder Brook) and one man-made inlet channel fed from the southeast. The man-made inlet channel lies downstream of a surface water attenuation area serving the local housing estate that lies approximately 100m to the southeast of the Lake. The man-made inlet channel has been subjected to significant erosion leading to a drop in the channel bed level of approximately 1.7m. The works comprise of the following elements: •Restoration of the man-made inlet channel over a length of 71m; •De-silting of the silt trap; and •Bank protection works around the perimeter of Jubilee Lake.
