Kent State Funded Special School Review
Descriptions
Kent County Council are looking for an external consultant to undertake a review of state-funded special schools in Kent. The review will establish a clear understanding of the current position, assess any gaps between current state and future requirements and make recommendations for any action that will need to be taken and resources required, phasing any changes to meet need without destabilising provision. The outcomes of the review will inform our sufficiency planning for the provision of specialist education pathways and a three to five-year plan for delivery of affordable special education - in line with Safety Valve Programme targets, details of which will be shared once confirmed. The review of special schools will complement a parallel review of Specialist Resource Provision in mainstream schools, so that the outcome of both reviews contributes to the medium to long term equitable provision of suitable state-funded education pathways for children with an EHC Plan across the County and within a district. The requirement is for a provider to undertake the review working with Local Authority officers and engaging special school head teachers.
