Descriptions
The contract will be undertaken at Kidwelly Castle Carmarthenshire, which is a Scheduled Ancient Monument.Cadw intend replacing the existing timber footbridge within the Chapel tower with a new metal design to allow visitors to view the Chapel tower interior and provide access into the Sacristy. The new footbridge superstructure design will use modular balustrade panels pre-fabricated off-site from galvanised mild steel, developed to improve longevity and reduce maintenance. The support structure is to be fabricated using galvanised mild steel. The footbridge is to incorporate a ladder under the main deck, accessible via a discrete lockable inspection hatch to provide safe access into the tower basement facilitating maintenance and cleaning.The length of the existing footbridge (subject to site confirmation) is approx. 6.5 metres. Discrete ramps are to be installed to improve access for wheelchairs and pushchairs.NOTE: The authority is using eTenderwales to carry out this procurement process.
