The Geotechnical Investigation works will include:•Boreholes (cable percussion with follow-on rotary core drilling);•SPT in-situ testing;•Retrieval/Sampling of material for laboratory testing;•Laboratory testing of – refer to the BoQ and Appendix A for a complete list of testing ; oCore sample (UCS and Point Load); oMarine Institute Sampling (Contamination testing); oOther typical soil testing;•Geophysical Survey of the Harbour and Navigation Channel will include the following surveys (or similar approved); oMapping – Multibeam Bathymetry and; oProfiling – Multi channel seismic (MCS).The main object of the geophysical profiling survey is to distinguish between loose material, weathered rock and intact rock. The survey data will ultimately be used to determine the amount of each type of material that needs to be dredged. The Contractor will be required to appoint an appropriately qualified and experienced (specialist) geophysicist, who will advise on the most appropriate method to achieve the desired outcome of the geophysical survey.As part of the final deliverables, the Contractor will provide an integrated GIS dataset and visualisation of the geophysical data and bathymetry to help better understand the spatial distribution of different materials and facilitate dredging planning.Suitably accredited laboratories will test all samples. The Contractor must provide an interpretive report of the laboratory results and geotechnical investigation. The interpretive report will refer to the dredgeability of the various subsea strata and the quantity of each material. The Contractor will also interpret and report on the results of the MI testing suite, in line with the EPA's guidelines.
