•This is a jointly funded WAG initiative utilising Foundation Phase and Flying Start Capital Funding.•To design and landscape a natural play environment on a designated area of land in Eirias Park, Colwyn Bay.•To offer high quality innovative experiences within a natural environment for children 0 – 7 years, their families, carers and multi-agency professionals.•To provide excellent outdoor learning opportunities as examples of good practice so as to train educational and early years childcare staff in the curriculum for 3 – 7 year olds.•To provide areas which will stimulate the children’s imagination and natural curiosity so that they can learn in a multi-sensory way.•To provide areas within the landscaping which will encourage children to explore, hide, climb and develop their physical skills.•To complement and enhance the existing natural environment in an innovative and sympathetic way.
