The Crop Science department require a DNA and RNA extraction system for the extraction of high quality nucleic acids from a variety of plant (e.g. ryegrass, wheat, barley, potato, grain and other arable corps), fungal (Septoria and Rhynchosporium) and bacteria (E. coli, Agrobacterium spp, Ensifer spp). This unit may also be utilised for a range of DNA and RNA molecule and in time may be utilised for other molecules or processes. The instrument must run in an automated labour saving manor, be easy to programme and time efficient for the training of new staff and students.
