Leisure activity providers for Stowe Pool, Lichfield

Descriptions

We are seeking proposals from experienced leisure activity providers to deliver seasonal water-based activities at Stowe Pool as part of a trial. Our aim is to transform Stowe Pool into a vibrant community hub, offering exciting, sustainable recreational opportunities while preserving the area's historic charm. We are offering leisure providers the opportunity to deliver a range of water-based activities at Stowe Pool, including: • Rowing boats • Paddleboarding • Open water swimming • Diving The trial will run for the 2025 summer period, and we are looking for providers who can bring these activities to life while ensuring safety, environmental sustainability, and an inclusive experience for all participants. What we offer • Fully restored boathouse: The boathouse will be available for use at a competitive rent to the successful bidder. It has been renovated to provide a customer service space and could include a small lightweight café or sales area (no plumbing, mains electricity or waste disposal - we will provide portable power). It also does not have disabled access, so any provider would need to consider how they would accommodate disabled customers. • Safe water: The pool water will be regularly tested to ensure safety for all activities. • Mitigation of wider uses of the pool: We will work to ensure a smooth integration of your activities onto the water to ensure other pool users do not affect a successful trial. What you need to provide • Activities and equipment: You will need to provide the necessary equipment for your chosen activities (e.g., boats, paddleboards, etc.). • Health & safety: You will need to ensure that all activities are carried out in compliance with relevant health and safety regulations, including insurance and risk management. • Environmental compliance: All activities must align with environmental regulations, including those set by Natural England for Stowe Pool, which is located in a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). • Reservoir Act: All activities must comply with the Reservoir Act 1975. • Temporary facilities: There are no onsite toilets or changing facilities. If your activity requires these you will need to provide these. While we can assist with identifying suitable locations and contacting you with the relevant teams who need to give permission, you will need to manage all necessary planning and logistics for these facilities. Key considerations • Community engagement: We encourage providers to engage with the local community and the Friends of Lichfield Historic Parks, and gather feedback during the trial period to assess demand and customer satisfaction. • Temporary planning permission: You will need to secure any temporary planning permissions for facilities and storage if required. How to apply • Please register your interest by providing a brief company/organisation overview and details of relevant experience by no later than 28th February 2025 to: procurement@lichfielddc.gov.uk
