LGH1269C - Request-for-Tenders under Open (National) Procedure for the Supply, Delivery, and Installation of a Two Photon Polymerization System to NUI Galway

Descriptions

This two-photon polymerization system is required to support research in the area of sensor development for medical diagnosis and prevention of cardiovascular diseases. The research activities envisioned for this equipment will be developed at the Smart Sensors Lab, based at the School of Medicine, NUI Galway. The main function of this system is to fabricate micro and nano structures for sensors in a variety of substrates, all with high priority in biocompatibility. The ability of this system to cure with high precision different polymers will allow the fabrication of three dimensional shapes, which will be advantageous for medical application; this is so as out of plane structures are more suitable for the body environment, and may provide higher sensitivity in electronic sensors. The two-photon polymerization system must include integrated optics for inspection during and after fabrication. Due to the nature of such fabrication process, the resolution of the instrument for optical inspection should provide enough resolution to distinguish the nano-features fabricated with the two photon polymerization system. In addition, the equipment should be provided of a displacement platform for the sample during fabrication, for a controlled polymerization of the material in the three-dimensional axis.
