Lighting Grid Upgrade - Mechanical & Electrical works

The University of South Wales requires mechanical and electrical work to be carried out to an existing lighting grid in one of our studios at our Cardiff Atrium campus.The combined use of the studio for drama and film studies requires the lighting grid to be upgraded to support the use of this space for these different specialist activities.It is proposed that the existing theatre lighting grid is lowered in height to an agreed level to allow a second film lighting grid to be installed above.The Film lighting grid will extend above and over the existing curtain track to maximise the use of usable floor area for film activities.When not in use, the Film luminaires and pantographs will be ‘parked’ at a height that does not interfere or impact on the use of the Theatre lights below as used for drama & performance activities.This arrangement will require sufficient space between the two lighting grids for Film pantographs and luminaires to be ‘stored’ at height without compromising the use of the Theatre grid.When in use, the Film pantographs need to be of sufficient length that allow the luminaires to extend from the maximum height in the lighting grid to a safe working height at floor level i.e. waist height.In relation to the Theatre lighting grid below, the layout and position of each of the Film lighting bars should be designed to provide maximum flexible use of the suspended Film luminaires from the grid above.The dimensions of the existing Theatre grid are 5.65m x 7.73m.NOTE: To register your interest in this notice and obtain any additional information please visit the Sell2Wales Web Site at http://www.sell2wales.gov.wales/Search/Search_Switch.aspx?ID=73197.
