Lincolnshire Integrated Community Pain Management Service (CPMS)
Descriptions
Chronic pain affects up to 28 000 000 adults in the UK. Axial spine pain, arthritis and other musculoskeletal conditions account for 3 of the top 12 disabling conditions globally. Treatment of persistent pain requires a biopsychosocial approach, where the goal is to improve function and quality of life. Limited service provision is a common obstacle to the optimal management of these conditions. Frequently, patients are seen across a variety of outpatient specialist services, waiting times are long and services disjointed with inadequate communication between specialities in primary, community and secondary care.Changes to the treatments available within the NHS have necessitated that this service be commissioned in a progressive accessible manner in line with relevant guidance.
