Lochend 2020 Peatland Restoration Project Statement of Requirement
Descriptions
The objective of this project is to stabilise the existing peatland vegetation to prevent further erosion and degradation and re-vegetate bare peat across the 40ha Lochend apportionment, 27ha of peatland restoration. In addition, the restoration aims to reduce Carbon emissions, improve water quality, raise the water table, reduce sedimentation, and enhance biodiversity. The network of erosion gullies that currently drain the bog will be re-profiled and blocked to prevent further drying out of the bog, old peat banks will be re-profiled and the bare peat around them bunded and repaired. NB all measurements and areas are taken from Bing aerial imagery and are approximate Procurement will be done on the basis of tenders which accurately reflect the attached Statement of Requirements. Failure to reflect the SoR will seriously impact on scoring of tenders.
