Descriptions

****This contract opportunity has previously been advertised (Dec 2015). There have been very minor changes to the original documents-please see the "CDM RT Changes" doc as attached. Please see Additional Information section VI.3 below.****Conwy County Borough Council are seeking a contractor for the Coastal Defence Maintenance – 4 Year Term Service Contract.Conwy County Borough Council manage over 50km of artificial sea defence infrastructure which includes the promenades at Llandudno, Colwyn Bay, Llanfairfechan and Penmaenmawr.Under the Coast Protection Act 1949, the Employer has permissive powers to conduct coast protection works for the protection of land as it deems necessary, although the Council is under no obligation to carry out such works.Currently, within the domain of the Council, the shoreline management plan is to “hold the line” under which the best effort will be made to maintain the existing coastline morphology. The Employers current coastal defence policy is the proactive maintenance of the existing coastal defence infrastructure whereby defects are identified and remedied as quickly as possible.
