The requirements are to replace the legacy telephony infrastructure with a new IP based architecture using Microsoft Lync as a foundation.The goals of the telephony procurement are:— To improve person-to-person communications and thus simultaneously provide better access to services, improve service delivery and make efficiency savings.— Establish a fully resilient and scalable Unified Communications (UC) solution utilising Microsoft Lync that is capable of supporting the existing number of extensions across all Trust premises and any likely future expansion.— To achieve best value rather than simple cost reduction.— To minimise operational costs of the telephony service.— To increase management control, transparency and accountability.— To align with business objectives as stated in the Technology In Action (TIA) programme.
