Medical revalidation – Long term evaluation of its regulatory impact.
Descriptions
The General Medical Council (GMC) is seeking to commission a wide-scale evaluation of medical revalidation to explore the extent to which it is meeting its regulatory objectives .Medical revalidation was introduced in December 2012 following an extensive period of development and consultation. It is the first of its kind in the world to use work-place annual appraisal as a basis for undertaking regular checks on doctors. In 2013 the GMC commissioned an evaluation framework for revalidation, which is now published on the GMC website. The GMC wishes to deploy the evaluation framework over the next three years, beginning in summer 2014. The evaluation project will:— Cover the four countries of the UK and a range of healthcare settings.— Look at how the design features of revalidation are being applied in practice and develop understanding of what this means.— Look at the role of patients and the public in medical revalidation.— Seek out the views and experiences of doctors, patients and public, appraisers, employers, responsible officers and others.— Explore equality and diversity issues, including any differential impact of revalidation associated with protected characteristics.— Analyse large-scale data from a range of sources both within and outside of the GMC. We welcome expressions of interest from organisations working alone or in partnership to provide both academic rigour and project management expertise.Note: To register your interest in this notice and obtain any additional information please visit the myTenders Web Site at http://www.myTenders.org/Search/Search_Switch.aspx?ID=115962
