The Contracting Authority is looking to appoint a single service provider to deliver its new Public Realm Contract. The new Public Realm Contract will encompass a number of the Council’s existing service contracts under a single supplier delivery model, but with significant delivery and value driven through the local supply chain. The contract would include a broad range of service areas as suggested below: - Grounds maintenance services - Play area inspections and repairs - Countryside Management - Tree inspections and maintenance - Drainage and watercourse maintenance and repairs - General compliance inspections, for example safety inspections - Digital Infrastructure (ducting and chambers) asset maintenance - Repairs and maintenance of external assets - Street Lighting and Technology maintenance - Minor Works and repairs (civil, environmental and structural contracts) - Car parks maintenance (inc hard surfacing) Optional service scope (that are currently in-review, or subject to further discussions) are; - Customer Services - Enforcement (Environmental) - Street cleansing The new Public Realm Contract has an estimated value of up to £5m p.a. and would aggregate the Council’s existing service areas for delivery by a single supplier, but with significant delivery and value provided through an integrated local supply chain. Key benefits of the new contract, over the proposed 10 year term (6 years with a 2+2year extension option), would include robust asset management to enable better informed decision making; collaborative and integrated delivery, removing barriers and supporting the Council through strong management, contract performance and seamless departmental working. Significant social value benefits are expected, which will support local supply chain opportunities; all of which will drive a strong and sustainable post-Covid recovery across Mid Sussex. A new Public Realm Contract would support innovative digital based solutions that would create the catalyst for change in service specifications, delivery and supporting live updates and feedback for residents and communities who access these services. If the Council proceeds with the procurement, documents could be issued during December 2021.
