Coleg Sir Gar (Dairy Development Centre) The Dairy Development Centre (DDC) was launched in January 2002 and is based at the Resource Centre, Gelli Aur. The programme aims to facilitate the development of the Welsh dairy industry through: * A proactive technology transfer service * Market information * Demonstrating best practice methods of production * Research and DevelopmentDairyCoDairyCo is a GB milk sector company working on behalf of dairy farmers to provide services not supplied by the industry. Dairy Co (non commercial and not-for-profit) was set up in April 2008 following a fundamental review of agricultural levy boards by Defra. The five existing levy boards (including the Milk Development Council) were replaced by one statutory levy board, the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB). DairyCo is one division of the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB).Project Aims and ObjectivesThe project will provide the dairy industry in Wales with the information and learning required in order to improve the dairy supply chain in terms of efficiency, sustainability and added value. It has been developed in order to achieve the relevant objectives of the Dairy Industry Strategic Action Plan and the Welsh Dairy Roadmap. The project will deliver a number of activities which have been broken down into 4 modules which are:1.Environmental Module2.Health Module3.Production Efficiency Module4. Supply Chain ModuleBenchmarking will play a vital part of monitoring improvements within the industry. The project is managed and delivered by Coleg Sir Gar (DDC) and DairyCo. The partnership approach to the delivery of this project will mean that information can, and will, be shared between the two main players within the dairy sector in Wales therefore providing the beneficiary and the stakeholders with the best value for money and ensuring that there is no duplication of activity.Specification The objectives of the mid-term and final evaluation will cover a number of differing elements relating to the project:•Monitoring: oAssess monitoring and reporting systems to measure progress towards achievement of outputs.•Process: oProject implementation, procurement processes, progress against outcomes.•Impact: oAchievements against objectives, assessment of broader outcomes and impacts of the project, unintended consequences, next steps.
