The proposal was to create a resource to enable projects requiring molecular biology. This resource would take the form of a fully equipped laboratory which would be able to carry out all aspects of working with nucleic acids: DNA and RNA extraction, PCR, cloning, gel electrophoresis and documentation, quantitative PCR (qPCR), spectrophotometry, centrifugation and DNA analysis software.In addition to large pieces of equipment, e.g. qPCR machine, gel documentation system, there are smaller items which are required to enable these experiments. For example, good quality pipettes, heating blocks, stirrers, vortex mixers, microfuges and gel electrophoresis equipment.
