A project to restore, maintain and add value to the natural heritage of Monmouthshire,) by helping local communities and land managers to identify high natural value sites (Local Wildlife Sites), building on the established local partnership approach and agreed criteria; providing management advice to land managers and local communities / organisations involved with those sites, to improve the quality of land management and therefore the maintenance of high value nature sites; enhanced citizen involvement, through: access improvements (intellectual and physical); a community focused environmental programme; volunteering; to raise environmental awareness and enable the maintenance, restoration and upgrading of the natural heritage; supporting sustainable and traditional management practices encouraging shared community based approaches (building on the success of the Monmouthshire Meadows Group) to ensure sustainable improvements. Facilitating site's maintenance, restoration and enhancement through a small capital grants programme of up to £2,000 per grant. The tendered activity is for the delivery and management of the above activities. This is expected to be in the form of 1 project officers working part time on the packages and the commissioning of a seasonal surveyor working part time over two seasons (budgeted at £12,000 per season) on environmental assessments.. The tendered activity includes marketing (budgeted at £2,500) and other related activity but does not involve the direct payment of grants to third parties.
