This project aims to increase the competitiveness of Monmouthshire as a year round sustainable tourism destination by harnessing local culture, traditions and environment to develop new products which focus on quality, distinctiveness, authenticity and visitor satisfaction, and which increase the number of visitors to the area who become its advocates. The following activities will be undertaken by the Welcome Monmouthshire Project Officer:•Development of loops off the Usk Valley Walk and Coastal Path routes to provide short circular walks for visitors / residents in places where there is maximum potential benefit for communities, business clusters and local supply chain development.•Provision of marketing and business support for businesses and communities on these circular routes•Management of a programme of support for local communities to develop and deliver projects which improve interpretation, signage and access to rivers and waterways for visitors and residents•Deliver improvements to visitor information on sustainable transport options, development of sustainable transport plans for key attractions in the county and development of incentives for visitors to use sustainable transport.•Management of a programme of support for towns and villages in the county to improve their brown and white tourism signage•Management of a programme of support to enable businesses to participate in and develop new digital tourism networks to access markets more effectively and develop on-going relationships with customers.•Development of not-for-profit broadband TV channel content to improve quality and variety of on-line visitor information. The tender is for the provision of a full time suitably qualified and experienced project officer to deliver the programme and to provide appropriate management support for the project. The tender does not involve the direct payment of grants to third parties but will involve the coordination of such activity.
