Awarded
National Conservation Centre — Architectural support.
Descriptions
This is a VEAT notice in relation to the extension of our existing Architectural Support Consultancy contract to provide support to assist in the establishment of the country's first national centre for building conservation and related materials and skills, The Engine Shed. Designed to address the needs of the historic built environment, raise standards and to promote greater interest and understanding, the Engine Shed will act as a focal point for those seeking information, advice and guidance on how to look after the built environment. Centrally located in Stirling, will appeal to those with a professional interest, including owners, potential owners, researchers and academics, as well as the general public. The Centre will house the Digital Documentation Studio and Conservation Science Laboratories and will provide outreach and education. The public will be welcome to visit changing exhibitions, view demonstrations of conservation ‘in action’, chat to resident craftspeople, acquire technical literature and attend informative talks covering a range of topics including traditional skills and building materials, architecture and design, construction and engineering.
