Descriptions

The development of a Literature Review to support updating Aistear, the Early Childhood Curriculum Framework.Updating Aistear will provide an important platform for collaboration, deliberation and research with stakeholders, researchers and interested parties in a process that will: •underpin the view that children and their lives are at the heart of Aistear and that this must be a starting point for all dialogue •focus on the context of children’s lives in the 21st century including, but not limited to, well-being, inclusion and voice •recognise the changes in the early childhood education and care landscape, including those that emerge from this unique time during the pandemic•provide an opportunity to reflect on the past while looking ahead to future opportunities for further enhancing the quality of provision for our youngest children’s learning and development. One aspect of the process in the coming years will be an update on the research base for the four interconnected Themes of the framework. The Council is now inviting tenders for a review of recent national and international literature through the lens of Aistear’s four interconnected themes, focused primarily on, but not limited to, early childhood learning and development. This literature review is an important component of the process in providing the evidence-based research necessary to update Aistear, ensuring its continued relevance and impact in supporting children’s learning and development.
