Descriptions

redevelopment of the New College Nottingham Basford Hall Campus1. College Property StrategyThe College Strategic Intent states that we will upgrade our facilities, learning and working environments to reflect industry and professional standards. In line with our strategic "touchstones" of excellence, employability and enterprise, our College estate will provide increasingly transformational learning and working environments facilities and services that foster enterprise and employability, through which our students, staff and communities excel. The prime function of our Property Strategy is to identify a clear direction for attaining this vision by transforming the role, purpose and resources associated with the traditional further education college.2. New College NottinghamThe College currently delivers teaching and learning at three main campuses, plus a number of smaller sites in Nottingham. The existing estate is c. 64 629 m² and the aim of the Property Strategy is to rationalise this over the next five years moving towards a two campus model. The first major stage of this is the development of new state of the art facilities at the existing Basford Hall campus. Discussions have commenced with Nottingham City Council regarding a possible land swap and relocation of the campus to the adjacent park fronting the junction of the A610 and Stockhill Lane. If agreement can be reached the first phase of the works will be the construction of new College facilities c. 1 200 m² on the City Council site. This is scheduled for completion in June 2015 with full College occupation and delivery by the College in September 2015.The second phase of the scheme will require the demolition of the existing College buildings to facilitate the development of replacement park facilities. The estimated cost of both phases of the development is £30 million including professional fees, furniture, fixtures, equipment, VAT and all other incidental and associated costs. If development of the City Council site cannot proceed phased redevelopment of the existing College site will go ahead at a similar cost and programme.
