The Festiniog and Welsh Highland Railway intends to appoint a main contractor to build a flagship new station terminus building on the site at St.Helen’s Road in Caernarfon. The new building will provide circa. 600sqm of floor area split across two floors and includes passenger refreshment facilities, ticket office, retail and meeting space, toilet provision and an events and waiting area. The project will include associated external works to the perimeter of the building.The Festiniog and Welsh Highland Railway intends to procure the construction of the new station through a two stage tender process with works commencing on site in February 2017 and completing in January 2018. Contractors will need to demonstrate experience of delivering of high quality, contemporary architecture and evidence good management and quality control procedures. The new station building will be an iconic addition to the waterfront in Caernarfon and as such needs to be finished to the highest standard.
