The New Work Connection Project is an ESF Convergence funded project, covering the four local authority areas of Ynys Mon, Conwy, Denbighshire and Gwynedd. It aims to provide intensive support and guidance to people, who are both economically inactive and facing major disadvantages in their lives, with regard to pursuing training and employment opportunities.The sponsors of the project are the four Social Service Departments from these Local Authorities. The Conwy Social Service Department working with the Mental Health Partnership provides help and support to those individuals and their families with Mental Health problems. But we recognise that more needs to be done to support people disadvantaged by mental illness and the associated stigma, to undertake training and employment. The value of both training and employment has long been acknowledged as key to promoting recovery and to assist the individual in taking up their rightful position within the community. The New Work Connections Project intends to provide individuals with Mental Health problems greater opportunity to achieve economic independence and greater self esteem. The ultimate goals and outcome will understandably be different between individuals but the objective is to assist each participant to achieve their own potential.Conwy County Borough Council wishes to work with suitably qualified and capable organisations to provide training and employment opportunities for adults with Mental Health needs.The project aims to increase employment and tackle economic inactivity by bringing more people into employment by implementing active labour market policies and supporting people to overcome a wide range of barriers to sustainable employment, and helping to address specific barriers faced by disadvantaged groups.The scheme is funded until 31st March 2014 but it is hoped that the Service Provider may be able to secure additional funding, from other sources, during the timescale of the project, to continue this valuable work.Please request a Pre Qualification Questionnaire (PQQ) from : contractsteam@conwy.gov.ukCompleted PQQ must be submitted by: 12 noon 4th October 2010
