Newport City Council - Flying Start Programme
Descriptions
Newport City Council has been awarded funding in the region of £1,800,000 for the delivery of flying start units in 6 different locations throughout the city. The schemes will involve the refurbishment , remodelling or extension of existing school buildings, community centres and library buildings all of which will remain in operation for the duration of the works. The projects will vary in size and complexity and will involve demolition works, construction of new partitions, the provision of toilets, refurbishment of general use rooms ,provision of kitchens and external play areas to include glazed canopies. The projects are anticipated to cost between £85,000 and £400,000, however, it is possible that the projects maybe amalgamated into larger contracts due to the proximity of the buildings to each other, the programme may therefore be issued as 2 or 3 tenders. Each tender could range in estimate from £300,000-£600,000.The authority may also wish to add additional works of a similar nature to any of the contracts once the contract has been let.Expressions of interest are therefore invited from contractors with relevant experience of working within primary schools on similar sized projects who have the necessary resources to be working at different sites simultaneously.
