Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust wishes to receive expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced Passenger Transport providers with the necessary capacity and capability to deliver a Non Emergency Patient Transport Service.The Non Emergency Patient Transport Services (NEPT) comprises the movement of patients whose condition is not considered an emergency between patients homes,hospitals,community settings or other treatment centres for people referred for consultations, treatments or procedures. This can and should encompass a wide range of vehicle types and levels of care consistent with the patients medical needs.Chesterfield Royal Hospital is the primary commissioner for the service, with Non Emergency Patient Transport Services being regarded as a vital service for the smooth running of acute and primary care services. It is an integral part of healthcare. The demand on the service has changed over recent years not necessarily in volume but in the management of patient activity. A greater emphasis is placed on ensuring patients are not waiting in hospital unnecessarily.The contract will be for an initial period of 3 years with provision to extend by up to a further 2 years based on performance and delivering continued value for money.More details on the service are set out in the memorandum of information and the invitation to tender.
