Awarded
(NU/1649) The Supply and Installation of a Wide-Field Fluorescence Microscope System for Electrophysiological Research
Descriptions
Newcastle University Bioimaging Unit is a multi-user imaging facility within FMS whose primary aim is to provide light high-end light microscopy and support to members of the University as well as external academic or commercial customers. The facility intends to expand its services to include the following imaging equipment detailed below. The primary application of this system will be to obtain high-resolution images of samples during electrophysiological investigation and/or optogenetic stimulation and/or all-optical investigation. We require wide-field fluorescence microscope with a focussing nosepiece for live-cell imaging without harming the specimen in a variety of experimental conditions including but not limited to dynamic imaging of ion/voltage-sensitive dye transients. We require a high-sensitivity/speed camera for imaging of fluorescence at up to and beyond 100 frames per second or 85 frames per second at full resolution (Fast scan: 89.1 frames/s (@2304 x 2304 pixels - full frame, 16 bit). The system must be hardware compatible with the BioCam Duplex MEA system from 3brain (https://www.3brain.com/biocam-duplex.html).The system must also be hardware and software compatible with and the Polygon 1000 DMD patterned illuminator from Mightex and its software PolyScan (https://www.mightexbio.com/products/patterned-illumination/polygon/) allowing all-optical investigations.
